At the Flag-off Ceremony for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is with great honor and a deep sense of responsibility that I stand before you today to officially flag off this year’s Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Week in Edo State. This event is a testament to our collective commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of mothers, newborns, and children, who represent the future of our beloved state and nation.

First, let me extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State, for his unwavering dedication to the health sector. Your visionary leadership and support have been instrumental in advancing healthcare delivery in our state. I also appreciate our development partners, healthcare workers, and community leaders for their tireless efforts in supporting initiatives like this.

Maternal and child health is a cornerstone of any thriving society. The statistics remind us of the urgency of our mission: every day, thousands of women and children lose their lives to preventable causes. This is unacceptable. We cannot allow preventable deaths to rob us of our future. This week, therefore, serves as a call to action for all stakeholders.

The Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week is a strategic initiative designed to deliver an integrated package of life-saving interventions, including:

Immunization to protect our children from deadly diseases,

Vitamin A supplementation to boost immunity,

Nutritional counseling for mothers and caregivers,

Malaria prevention through the distribution of insecticide-treated nets,

Family planning services, and

Health education to empower our communities with knowledge.

This year, our theme, [Insert Theme], emphasizes the importance of collective effort. Health is not just the responsibility of the government or healthcare workers—it is a shared responsibility. Community participation is essential to achieving our goals.

To our mothers and caregivers here today: I urge you to take full advantage of the services being offered. Your health and that of your children are priceless. Ensuring that every child is immunized, every pregnant woman has access to antenatal care, and every family is educated about preventive healthcare is a commitment we must all uphold.

To our healthcare workers: You are the backbone of this initiative. Your dedication and expertise make the difference. I commend you for your sacrifices and urge you to continue serving with compassion and diligence.

To our traditional and religious leaders, community leaders, and the media: Your voices are powerful in mobilizing our people. Please help spread the message about the importance of maternal and child health services.

Finally, let me assure you that the Edo State Government remains steadfast in its commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure, providing essential drugs and equipment, and ensuring that no one is left behind in our healthcare delivery system.

As we flag off this week, let us remember that every service provided, every life saved, and every child immunized brings us closer to a healthier Edo State. Together, we can achieve our vision of a state where no mother dies giving life, and every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive.

Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact of this initiative in our communities.

Long live Edo State!
Long live Nigeria!

Thank you, and God bless.
